Composer And Setar Player
The “Song of Persia” collection includes thirty pieces for the Setar. These pieces are a number of pieces that have been gradually made by the author since about fifteen years ago. The beginning of making each piece was not clear with the initial intention and decision to make a piece in a Iranian music devision (Dastgah), but a melody, rhythm or motif came to mind and expanded over time and was finally written. In making the pieces, an attempt has been made to use all the facilities of the Setar instrument in the fields of sound and special techniques for playing the Setar. A number of these pieces have been performed in the past in two albums, “Rider” and “Spring of Kindness” and have been released by the Chaharbagh Institute.
A word about Setar:
Setar instrument with its special features has long been considered by Mons and companions of mystics and poets of Iran and in their mystical journey and behavior, at the same time it has been a special interest of artists and musicians of this region. Apart from the musicians whose main instrument was the Setar , some other musicians also chose the Setar as their other instrument to complete their musical pleasure. Penetrating sound, with elegance , the ability to play various sounds in different parts of the instrument, the ability to play as a single string or drone , the ability to create audio variety by changing the mode of wounding and right hand and the ability to play with sub-plectrum such as the back of the nail, “Tanburi” is a feature of the Setar with the thumb and wrist, and in reducing this variety, the sound and plectrum can be found.
The Setar structure has a well-proportioned composition, and while it creates a pleasant appearance as a musical instrument, it does not impose an abnormal state of pressure on the musician’s body. Easy movement due to light weight allows the player to be constantly accompanied and adapted. The natural volume of the Setar sound seems to be desirable for today’s dense and stressful lifestyle, and this problem was exacerbated many years ago with the emergence and development of the recording technology, the volume of instruments for live performance and group playing. Has found. All the features that have been mentioned, along with the ability to perform full and desirable instrumental music and Iranian maqam music, as well as the ability to perform various types of beats with traditional and new forms, have created a complete setar.
In the hope of excellence and further development of the original music art of Iran.
